Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
Honeycake LLC ("we," "us," or "our") built SoundBakery as a native macOS application for indexing and searching local audio files. This privacy policy describes how we handle your information when you use SoundBakery.
Information We Collect
SoundBakery is a local-first application
SoundBakery processes all audio files entirely on your Mac. We do not collect, transmit, or store your audio files, metadata, or usage data on our servers. When using In-App AI (Local MLX) mode, no data ever leaves your machine — all AI inference (tagging, embedding, chat) runs locally using on-device models.
Information You Voluntarily Provide
If you contact us via email for support, feature requests, or refund inquiries, we receive your email address and any information you choose to include in your message. We use this solely to respond to your inquiry and do not share it with third parties.
Remote Provider Mode
If you choose to use SoundBakery in Remote Provider mode (connecting to an external OpenAI-compatible API such as LM Studio, OpenAI, Groq, or OpenRouter), the following information is sent to the remote server you configured:
- Audio file metadata (file paths, tags, and descriptions) for LLM tag expansion and embedding generation
- Your search queries and chat messages when using the AI assistant
The remote server is chosen and configured by you. We have no control over and are not responsible for how that third-party service processes your data. You should review the privacy policy of your chosen provider.
Information Automatically Collected
SoundBakery does not include analytics, crash reporting, telemetry, or any automatic data collection mechanisms. The application does not communicate with our servers or any third-party services unless you explicitly configure a remote API provider.
Data Storage
SoundBakery stores the following data locally on your Mac:
- Your indexed audio catalog database (SQLite)
- AI model files downloaded from HuggingFace Hub (stored in
~/Library/Caches/huggingface/) - Application preferences (UserDefaults)
- API credentials in the macOS Keychain (if you configure a remote provider)
You can delete this data at any time by removing the application and its associated files from your system.
Third-Party Services
The only third-party service SoundBakery communicates with is:
- HuggingFace Hub — Used exclusively for downloading AI models when you choose to use local MLX models. Only model files are downloaded; no personal information is transmitted.
If you configure a remote API provider, your communications with that server are governed by that provider's privacy policy.
Your Rights
Since SoundBakery does not collect or store your personal information on our servers, there is no personal data for us to provide, modify, or delete upon request. If you have questions about data handling, please contact us at the email below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the application's documentation. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
